Gamma Sigma Delta began at the Ohio State University in 1905 as a professional agricultural fraternity called Delta Theta Sigma. The name was officially changed in 1913 at a conclave. In 1915, the organization merged with the Honor Society of Agriculture, and membership was limited to graduating seniors, graduate students, alumni, and faculty.
